    Almost the weekend!
Today started off a little rough, with some emotional spillover from a phone conversation last night. Though it's quite possible that my reaction to anything said was a combination of one person being poor at communicating and the fact that my sensitivity is ramping up for my special female time in the next few weeks. BUT.... I've been reminded about the people that do appreciate the work that I do and I'm getting to take on some more responsibility --- like I asked for. This is more promising than past experiences here, where I asked to take on a little more for the sake of keeping busy and growing and nothing happened. So, now I'll get to also help out some very nice people and their sales efforts for ITWorld.com -- a site that actually excites me.

So, I have kept very busy today. I hope that I have many more days like today. I'm starting to be more successful at keeping a whole lot of outside work thought/emotion at bay, so that I can really concentrate on what I'm doing. It may be a while yet before I actually land a job elsewhere, so I need to optimize the time that I have here.

Fears about money and school are subsiding, because Nate is amazing and keeps reassuring me that this isn't just me on my own now. I feel safe.

Tonight is some bubble tea with the wonderful Moo! I picked up some leg warmers because my little toe is too ouchy to wear my boots. I anticipate chilly air. :D

AND... if you're looking for something to do on Sautrday night, JADED is happening in Lowell! DJs Black/Mail and Dehuman8 + myself and Opisthocoma dancing in cages. It should be heaps of fun!

    Spats!
I'm mystified at myself. I have fabric, I have buttons, I have a sewing machine. I've been lusting after spats for almost a year now, yet have not taken the couple of hours it probably would take to figure out a pattern an make a pair for myself.

Heck, I know leatherworking, I've got leather, and I've got a leather needle for my sewing machine.

Instead, I spend my time browsing Etsy.com and finding spats to lust after (like these or these).

    *rolls eyes at self*

I'd knit some, but somehow all the knit ones just look like overly-decorated legwarmers to me. :P

By golly, this will be remedied this weekend. Perhaps while [info]timswar is firing up the grill on Sunday (poke poke).

I do hereby publicly declare my intent to poke at my husband until he fires up the grill one last time. The poking shall begin now, and will continue until he has caved in (probably Sunday afternoon).

-poke poke poke- in Tim's direction.

    the little things
While mopping the kitchen floor, I started thinking how much I would LOVE to just rip the peeling linoleum up and be done with it... I mentioned it to [info]ninevah, and he said that he constantly thinks the same thing and would, if it weren't for the splinters we'd get.

So, since actually redoing the entire kitchen (cabinets, moving the sink to the left a foot or so, shelving, etc etc) is at LEAST five years off (I will not start that project until the rest of the house is done, and I want to be able to pay for it myself), we have decided to redo the floor and take off the crappy paneling "wainscotting" and repaint next year.

I am so excited I could pee.

Also, the house hasn't looked this good in way too long (and we still have so many little things to do that we're just going to call good for now 'cuz we're down to the wire here).

Seriously, we need to have people over more often.

    Bleck.
I feel a little chilled and ache-y. I best not be getting sick. Tonight is super rest night. I've been out and about every day/night for the past four.

Tomorrow is a special day. Must. be. healthy.

    This weekend = good! <33
So, I had a really great weekend. I kept busy pretty much non-stop, which made the weekend feel simultaneously very long and all too short.

Friday: After leaving work 20 minutes early only to get home about ten minutes later than I typically do, we went out to the Wrentham Outlets to find Nate a special suit! We found it. :) It's beautiful. I have, however, discovered that I am particularly fond of lighter colored suits. <3

Saturday: Intense sunlight + intense dwarf hamster exercising on her VERY noisy wheel woke me up at 8:30 and I was unable to go back to sleep. I relaxed the morning away and then went out to Burlington to do some long overdue practical-clothes shopping for myself. I spent under $200 and came home with two sweaters, two sweater dresses, some nice 'n thick tights, something special, hawt BeBe zipper skirt, and a necklace to wear with my wedding dress. Win! That night I went home and modeled these things for Nate, ate some gnocchi, and then we went to Underworld. I danced heaps and it was loads of fun.

Sunday: I met up with my friend Carrie... she is one of two people that I keep in regular contact with from high school. I love her oodles, but haven't seen her since 2006. We went to the Aquarium, ate at Faneuil Hall (yummmy Thai!), and then walked around the Common and Gardens before heading back to our other friend's apartment. It was so, so great to see them and to spend some real quality time together. Hopefully we all get together again sooner rather than later. <33

I really, really love these people. <3

    full of crazies... and clutter
At this point, I have lists for my lists. And multiple copies of lists.

I am trying SOOO hard not to be neurotic about Mr Weasel's birthday. My main goal is to get the house to not look like a tornado went through. And it's good because it's forcing us to lose quite a bit of clutter and actually DO something about finding places for stuff we'd do "later". "Later" being years in some cases.

In a way, I envy people who are just moving into their new homes because they have a decided LACK of clutter. I guess this proves that eleven years in one spot (a record for me!) really packs on the crap.

    Various and sundry items
Tim and I have gathered up our clothing donations, made a shopping list, and are generally out and about, getting things done. YAY! Afterward, we're heading over to Mom's for dinner and football (sigh). At least I've got some finishing touches to do on that curtain I made last week, so I won't be too bored. ;)

I'm a sickly person* and am traveling a lot for my work, so I'm on the annual hunt for both the seasonal and H1N1 flu shot. The MDA said I can't use the H1N1 nasal spray, unfortunately, so that narrows down my options. It's currently looking like I can get the seasonal one at Target, and I have an appointment for the H1N1 at a Kroger tomorrow, right before leaving town. It would be great to find an all-in-one place, though. :)

My co-worker has already finished her Christmas shopping, and has plans to wrap the presents this weekend. I kid you not. LOL! I'm just getting started. :) We're going to need to be extra-creative this year, since we're on one income right now, so that means we need to start early!

Tim and I came up with an awesome superhero last night. I'm contemplating writing a story using her, and perhaps trying my hand at drawing comics. :D Ooh- maybe we can get a short comic out and give signed copies of those as presents? Hmmm... has anyone tried anything like this? Suggestions? I can hand-color each one, I'm guessing.

    ----
    * I've got Myasthenia Gravis, a neuro-muscular auto-immune disorder. Thankfully, I'm in remission, but there's no reason to play with fire; if my neurologist tells me to get the flu shot, I say, "Yes, SIR!" and jump in line to get a flu shot.

Ever wonder what it would look like if I wrestled a midget in green jello?
Well, now you can find out....

You can also see what it looks like when I rub jello on Nate's crotch (at the end)

    Picnic on Sunday! :)
It looks like there's going to be wonderful weather on Sunday, with a high of 76, so Tim and I have decided to have one last picnic. Want to join us?

Who: anyone who wants to enjoy the afternoon with us
What: picnic & relaxation & enjoying the changing leaves
When: we'll leave our house at 1pm; feel free to meet us here
Where: meet at Casa Kitty & Tim; if it turns out to be too cool, we can stick around the house and light a fire in my mini firepit. :)
Why: I believe this might be the last chance in 2009!
How: if you need directions, give me a call: 946-2691

We'll probably visit the Farmer's Market beforehand, to pick up some fresh cider, so feel free to join us for that, too! :) I might also make oatmeal cookies (it just seems like the right season for oatmeal cookies, doesn't it?).

Side note: don't forget the Wake County Library Sale next weekend! We're looking forward to it. :)

    Updates!

First and most important: My cousin and his family are in Fort Hood. He was off base yesterday at a doctor’s appointment (the reason that he isn’t currently still in Afghanistan is because they found tumors in his shoulder and lung, but everything there is good), but his wife and children were on the base. Everyone is okay, but I can only imagine how frightening and stressful it was for all of them. They have a one year-old little girl and a four year-old little boy. He was at daycare and in lock down for a very long time. Scary. I’m just happy that they’re all OK… I saw them a few weeks ago. I hadn’t seen my cousin (RJ) for about a year and had never met his wife (Amanda) and children in the flesh. They’re all very wonderful people and I can see how in love and happy he is. So, I am very happy that they are all okay!

This week was flown by and I’m very happy for it. Tonight we go suit shopping (!!) at Wrentham Outlets, tomorrow night is Underworld, and then Sunday I get to see my friend Carrie and together we shall enjoy the Aquarium! I haven’t seen her in YEARS!

Last night I did yoga at home and it was MORE intense than class. This is good! Everything gets worked… refreshing!

Those are the big updates…. for now. =)
